what are we allowed to do in the car? 4

With this new confinement which affects 16 departments in France from Saturday March 19 at midnight and one minute, this is what you will have the right to do by car.

Prime Minister Jean Castex has just announced new travel restriction measures as part of the fight against the spread of the coronavirus. But unlike the previous two, this new confinement (valid for four weeks) only concerns sixteen departments of the country and not the entire territory: the eight departments of Ile-de-France (Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Essonne , Hauts-de-France, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Val-d’Oise), the five departments of Hauts-de-France (Nord, Pas-de-Calais, Aisne, Oise, Somme) , in addition to the Alpes-Maritimes, Seine-Maritime and Eure.

In these sixteen departments, it will remain possible to take your car without limitation of distance to go to work or because of an overriding reason, with the support of a certificate. Without professional or compelling reasons, on the other hand, trips to go shopping or a walk will be restricted to a perimeter of ten kilometers without time limit (but again with a certificate). Failure to comply with these obligations will always result in a fine of € 135, or € 200 in the event of a repeat offense within 15 days (€ 3,750 for a third offense in less than a month with imprisonment).

Curfew everywhere else

In other departments, the curfew rule remains in force. But it will start at 7 p.m. in the evening against 6 p.m. currently. It prohibits any travel outside the obligatory journeys for work or a compelling reason, always with the support of a certificate. Outside of curfew hours, travel is free.
