Since its release, the Corvette C8 has already undergone some modifications by several preparers, including the exhaust. But we almost forgot to wonder what she was capable of without any modification.
Every car enthusiast knows how important a car’s sound is to driving pleasure. Sound purists will even say that 50% of the sensations go through this. On this point, it is certainly the American cars which are the strongest, especially thanks to their atmospheric V8s which are among the last to avoid the abuses of downsizing and the appearance of turbos. Even the very recent Corvette C8 is good at it.
The proof with this video in which a happy European owner uses it for a short trip on the German autobahn and its portions without speed restriction. As a result, the V8 rumbles up to more than 6,000 rpm and drives the car at over 230 km / h. Nothing breathtaking when it comes to maximum speed, what matters here is the sound.
Corvette C8, the American Ferrari?
Remember that the eighth generation of the Corvette also marks major changes in the history of this model: the engine is no longer in the front but in the rear central position. A true supecar architecture which allows it to improve its sports capacities despite a power much lower than its European competitors.
Indeed, its naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 develops “only” 495 horsepower and 636 Nm of maximum torque. But this still allows it to swallow the 0 to 100 km / h in less than 3.0 seconds for models equipped with the Z51 pack. Not bad. Enough talk, watch this video instead and above all, turn up the volume!
