The Toyota GR Yaris has already made a name for itself in a few road races and it has impressed us. But what is she capable of on the highway? Video response thanks to our colleagues from AutoTop NL.
Unless you’ve been living in a cave for six months, you will no doubt have seen various test drives and performance tests of the Toyota GR Yaris. In this video, the supercharged Japanese woman tries her hand at another test, reaching top speed on an unlimited stretch of German motorway.
In European specifications, the turbocharged 1.6-liter G16E-GTS three-cylinder from the GR Yaris produces 257 hp and 360 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The supercharged little Yaris is not only a bomb on the racetrack, it is also able to calm down a few competitors in a drag race.
What maximum speed?
During its tests, our colleagues from AutoTopNL were able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 5.16 seconds, a really impressive time and unattainable by competitors like the Honda Civic Type R, the Hyundai i30 N and the Renault Megane RS Trophy.
Even more, it’s not just the car’s 0 to 100 km / h time that is impressive. When the car has a little more space to enhance its pace, it goes from 100 to 200 km / h in less than 16 seconds. In this video, the driver then continues to push the Japanese bomb at a maximum indicated speed of 232 km / h, which is actually slightly above the maximum speed electronically limited to 228 km / h.
