The Renault Megane RS is no longer available in the catalog when you browse the brand’s configurator. But the car should be available to order again in a few weeks.
The evolution of automotive standards and the French penalty make the task of manufacturers more and more difficult. Especially those who offer compact models whose price is as tight as possible, for which a penalty representing more than a third of the total value is a prohibitive element.
The Renault Megane RS is one of those compact sports cars bludgeoned by the penalty. And for a few hours, it was no longer available on the brand’s online configurator.
This is a problem of adapting the car to the latest evolution of anti-pollution standards. A problem which had, in the past, temporarily excluded certain sports models from the market such as the Peugeot 308 GTI or the Volkswagen Golf R 7. Fortunately, they were able to re-enter the catalog a few weeks later. And it will be the same for the Megane RS, which will have to convert to the Euro 6D Full standard (in force since January 1).
Renault tells us that the car will become available to order again within a few weeks.
