This is what the Peugeot 607 could have looked like if the design bosses of the brand had not finally opted for a much more timid approach.
What is Peugeot’s last big sedan? We must go back to the year 2010 to find the trace. Launched in 1999 and remained a little over a decade in the catalog, the 607 replaced the 605 and the 505 before it. Like all of these large French sedans (also include the Citroën XM / C6 and Renault Safrane / Vel Satis), it wanted to compete directly with the Germans.
But as with the attempts of other French brands, the Peugeot 607 has never managed to approach the sales figures of these famous German references. Blame it on too timid style, in addition to a lack of powerful engines?
A much more aggressive 607
The specialists of Auto lines unveil images of the styling models built by Peugeot designers in the mid-1990s, when the lines of the car were frozen. And as you can see on the left, the Peugeot 607 could have sported a much more aggressive style than that finally adopted by Peugeot executives. Would she have worked better like that?
