The Cupra Formentor, a sports SUV from Seat’s “premium” brand, will well receive the inline five-cylinder 400 horsepower of the Audi TT-RS and RS 3.
A few weeks ago, spies managed to take a video of a Cupra Formentor with a very surprising sound on the Nordschleife: the machine, which sounded like an Audi RS 3 or an RS Q3, left little doubt as to the type of its engine. We then wondered if it was a simple prototype used only for the development of a new engine or a future variant in preparation.
And here is today the official confirmation that this Formentor equipped with the famous turbo inline five-cylinder from Audi will reach the showrooms. The sports division of Seat has indeed just released this image, along with a small text: “Cupra Formentor VZ5, the ultimate expression in terms of performance”.
Presentation on February 22
Cupra does not give any power or performance figures for the moment, but the future Formentor VZ5 should develop at least 400 horsepower according to the data sheet of the current Audi RS Q3 with the same engine. This version will represent the absolute top of the range of Cupra and Formentor. It will tackle the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 S, the most powerful compact family SUV on the market today (421 hp). See you on February 22 to find out in broad daylight.
