The Skoda Kushaq, not to be confused with the Kamiq, is a new small SUV developed for the Indian market, which features all the stylistic codes of the Czech manufacturer’s backpacker vehicles. There is indeed the double-stage light signature, or even the front grille of Skoda’s SUVs, all surrounded by black plastic sill protectors. Made in India and based on the MQB-A0-IN platform of the Volkswagen group, it is one of the models of the “India 2.0” project which provides for the launch on the Indian market of about thirty vehicles for all the brands of the group, and which represents a total investment of one. billion euros.

With compact dimensions of 4.22 meters long by 1.76 meters wide and 1.61 meters tall, the Skoda Kushaq has a wheelbase of 2.65 meters, as well as a raised ground clearance of 18.8 cm allowing it to think outside the box. The space on board is generous, with a 385 liter trunk supplemented by 26.2 liters of storage, and the equipment is there such as air conditioning or an infotainment system to touch screen (from 7 to 10 inches depending on the version), equipped with USB C sockets and compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Hill start assist, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring and automatic windshield wipers are optional. Note also that the ESP is available as standard, perhaps anecdotal information for us but not in India, where it is still rare equipment. The “Simply Clever” tips Skoda are also part of the game, with large storage compartments equipped with elastic bands, a parking ticket clip on the windshield, bag hooks in the trunk, and a practical cup holder for ‘open a water bottle with one hand.

Skoda Kushaq (2021): two TSI petrol engines

Under the hood, the Skoda Kushaq offers two petrol engines : the three-cylinder 1.0-liter TSI 115 horsepower, and the four-cylinder 1.5 liter TSI 150 horsepower, coupled to 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, or 7-speed DSG dual clutch, depending on the version.

Orders for the new Skoda Kushaq will open in the month of June 2021 for the Indian market, with first deliveries expected in the summer.
