Announced in 2018, private radar cars are arriving on the roads of new regions of France, and they are difficult to recognize.
These new vehicles will be put into service from this first quarter of 2021. private radars. After Normandy, Brittany, Pays de la Loire and Center-Val de Loire, they are expected in New Aquitaine, in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté but also in Hauts-de-France and in the Great East.
It is therefore on board vehicles entrusted to specialized private companies that the future radars will be on board. According to Xavier Marotel, chief of staff of the prefect of Loiret, these will be compact sedans, “The goal is precisely that they fit into traffic anonymously, in town and in rural areas”.
These new “mobile-mobile” radars will be functional “over several days of the week, including weekends”, according to the Charente-Maritime prefecture, up to eight hours a day.
It would therefore be a question of strengthening the controls on the axes with the most accidents, by reducing the missions of the police, thus letting them concentrate on other matters such as alcoholism and drugs.
The number of HP will explode
According to forecasts by journalists from Le Point newspaper, these new measures risk increasing the number of reports per year, from 1.5 million to 12 million, knowing that these private companies will certainly be held to a very framed obligation of result, for maximum efficiency.
According to Road Safety, “it is still too early” to determine the number of cars put into service, or even the date of entry into service. One thing is certain, by the end of 2021, no less than 450 vehicles will be circulating in France, day and night.
