It was one of Anne Hidalgo’s promises: Paris will go entirely to 30 km / h in the coming months.
Paris will not cut it: all the streets of the capital will be limited to 30 km / h, and this from the end of the year, or at the beginning of 2022 at the latest. the plan announced by David Belliard, in charge of transport for the town hall of Paris.
30 zones already cover 60% of the area from the city. A recent poll by the Paris city hall showed that 50% of Parisians are for this slowdown in their streets, with 50% against. A measure that divides, therefore.
The main roads and the ring road spared for the moment
Anyway, the major axes will probably not be affected, at least not at the beginning. These are indeed managed by the Prefecture of Police, not the City. Paris wants to make them go to 30 km / h also, but must therefore find an agreement with the Prefecture. On the peripheral side, the capital confirms its desire to increase it to 50 km / h, but has not specified a timetable on this subject.
Paris therefore continues on its regulatory momentum on the car in its streets, after having for example announced wanting to remove 150,000 parking spaces.
