Nissan Qashqai, third! And it was time for the Japanese crossover to renew itself, after almost eight years of career. His replacement, expected for February 18, begins to reveal himself with a first image. Well, the clue is light and still requires a little imagination.
A piece of optical unit, a few interior details, a heavily camouflaged model … and that’s it. The usual pre-launch teasing begins for the third generation Qashqai, which is scheduled to rise in mid-February. The 18th, at 11 am Paris time precisely.
The precedent began to show the weight of the years. Launched in 2014, the Qashqai 2 was quickly battered by competition that became increasingly numerous and sharp from the mid-2010s. Peugeot 3008 and Volkswagen Tiguan in particular, have succeeded in make people forget that Nissan was indeed the inventor of the compact crossover! Even if the Qashqai has so far done better than resist from a commercial point of view, its on-board technology and its engine offer is now lagging behind (despite recent and excellent 4-cylinder 1.3 original Renault) . Nissan therefore promises a significant technological renewal.
According to the first pictures of camouflaged prototypes, we must expect a facies in the vein of the recently renewed Juke, with optics on two levels and an imposing logo in the center of the grille. For the rest, the contours should remain classic. However, we know that the space on board should improve. Dimensions are up slightly (4.43 m long, or 3.5 cm more), and the trunk would gain about 50 l of volume.
We also discover part of the cabin, including one 9-inch central screen and a 12.3-inch screen as instrumentation. Regarding the mechanics, the existing 1.3 l should evolve with micro-hybridization, and a PHEV hybrid, essential in these times of gram hunting, will complete the offer.
