Skoda publishes new information, photos and video regarding the fourth generation of Fabia which will be unveiled next spring.
The new Skoda Fabia is here again. Only a few days after showing herself in profile and in the fog on a first shot, the fourth-generation Czech city car is back through a new photo series. This time, she shows off in camouflage during her development phase. Not enough to learn much more about its design …
Skoda ensures, however, that LED headlights, which extend to the grille, characterize the front of this new Fabia. The general lines seem more more elegant and slender. On board, the brand also promises a “symmetrical dashboard”, with a floating screen and decorative inserts in different colors depending on the finish. For the first time in its history, the Fabia will also be entitled to digital cockpit.
Increased dimensions for more interior space
On the technical side, the new Fabia will be based on the Volkswagen group’s MQB-A0 platform, already used for the Volkswagen Polo or the Seat Ibiza in particular, which will allow it to present increased dimensions and to offer more interior space. Skoda indeed announces it bigger, sportier and even safer than its predecessor.
The Fabia 4 will be 4.10 m long (+10 cm), 1.78 m wide (+5 cm) and 1.46 m high for 2.56 m of wheelbase (+9 cm). Its trunk volume will be 1,190 liters, or 40 liters more than on the current model.
More comfort and technology
The brand also promises “superior comfort and, thanks to advanced safety and assistance systems, an even higher level of security. “
“Compared to its predecessor, we have significantly improved the interior – offering a high level of comfort, advanced infotainment systems and innovative assistance systems.”, Adds Johannes Neft, member of the board of directors. of Skoda in charge of technical development.
Only in essence
Under the hood, the manufacturer will only offer new-generation petrol engines which will be coupled with a 7-speed manual or automatic transmission (DSG7). In all five blocks will be available: two MPI engines and three TSI direct injection engines for powers ranging from 65 hp to 150 hp.
For the rest, the aerodynamics have been improved (the drag coefficient has gone from 0.32 to 0.28) and 13 new Simply Clever features are announced.
