A few hours before the presentation of the new DS 4, the French driver Jean-Eric Vergne shows himself on social networks at the wheel of the compact sedan …
D-1. It is this Wednesday February 3, 2021, at 2 p.m., that DS must present its brand new DS 4 at a major event organized exclusively online, due to the health crisis.
In the meantime, the manufacturer today unveils new photos and video of its compact sedan.
A completely new front panel
On a snapshot published on Twitter, we notably discover the car photographed from the front and slightly plunged into semi-darkness, which gives us to see its new light signature, characterized in particular by large vertical daytime running lights. These are pushed back to the ends of the front bumper to accentuate the impression of width and therefore the seat of the vehicle.
Welcome aboard the new DS 4
Also on Twitter, DS also broadcasts a video in which we discover the French driver Jean-Eric Vergne aboard the new DS 4. The double Formula E world champion (in 2018 and 2019 with the DS Techeetah team) is seated behind the wheel and seems to be carrying out final tests of the car in the flow of traffic.
However, it is difficult to learn much about the driving position since the dashboard and the instrument cluster are largely hidden here under a thick black canvas.
Plug-in hybrid E-Tense version on the program
For the rest, DS has already announced that this new generation of DS 4 will be based on an evolution of the EMP2 platform and that it will have unprecedented proportions for the segment.
It will also be available with at least one plug-in hybrid engine that will combine a 180 hp supercharged 4-cylinder petrol unit and a 110 hp electric motor integrated into the EAT8 gearbox for a total power of 225 hp. Everything will be powered by a more efficient battery thanks to new, more compact cells with greater capacity. The latter will allow a range of more than 50 kilometers in zero emission mode (WLTP combined cycle).
A DS 4 2.0
Finally, the new DS 4 will be at the forefront of innovation since it will have a whole slew of cutting-edge technologies including Active Scan predictive suspension or a large head-up display, the DS Extendend Head Up Display, the first step. towards augmented reality. Not to mention a level 2 semi-autonomous driving system (DS Drive Assist 2.0.) And a completely redesigned infotainment system with voice and gesture controls (DS Iris System and DS Smart Touch).
