Only a few hours after opening orders for the EQA on the French market, Mercedes is already announcing the arrival of a new model in its EQ electric range.

A fluid and elegant line

The German manufacturer has indeed just released the first pictures of the EQS, the future during zero emissions of the S-Class.

Prefigured in 2019 by the Vision EQS concept, the large and luxurious 100% electric sedan just appeared on social media only dressed in a light camouflage. This simply covers the front and rear parts of the car.

A second snapshot, also posted on social media, once again shows EQS in profile, but this time plunged into darkness.

Each time, it is the silhouette of the model, rather fluid and slender for a vehicle of this size, which is put forward by the manufacturer.

Promising figures for the EQS

After driving over 2 million test kilometers in different parts of the world, the EQS has now entered in the last phase of its development. Its presentation should therefore not be delayed too long.

Based on the new modular platform EVA (Electric Vehicle Architecture), it should announce an output of around 480 hp and 760 Nm of torque, which could allow it to go from 0 to 100 km / h in about 4.5 seconds. It should also have a 100 kWh battery that will guarantee it a range of 700 kilometers.

Another characteristic of the sedan: it will inaugurate, as an option, a new XXL-sized digital dashboard called Hyperscreen or literally “hyper-screen”. This will cover the entire width of the dashboard, from the driver to the front passenger.

Soon an EQS … SUV

EQS will take place in the first half of 2021 on the assembly lines of Factory 56, the new ultra-modern production site of the star brand based in Sindelfingen, Germany. Subsequently, it will give birth to an SUV version which will for its part be manufactured in Tuscaloosa, in the United States.

In the end, the Mercedes EQ electric range will have no less than six new models in 2022.
