Like Alfa Romeo and DS, Lancia is part of the “premium” pole of the new automobile group Stellantis, the alliance of PSA and FCA.
That’s it, PSA and FCA (Fiat-Chrysler Automobile) have merged. The new Stellantis entity has just provided some details about its organization. It will be administratively based in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and the brands that make it up are already starting to change bosses: Peugeot’s, Jean-Philippe Imparato, has just taken over as Alfa Romeo, for example. But one of the surprises of this re-organization is to be noted at the level of the group’s premium pole: DS Automobile and Alfa Romeo logically figure in this pole, but not Ferrari or Maserati who observe a more elitist positioning. On the other hand, the Lancia brand is also part of the premium pole!
The return of Lancia?
As a reminder, Lancia currently only offers one model in the catalog, the very aging Ypsilon based on the chassis of the Fiat 500. It is no longer marketed in Italy, and it is not known how Stellantis could revive it without harming the development of Alfa Romeo, which is already struggling to win against Mercedes, Audi and BMW.
