Jeep is taking advantage of the 2021 edition of its Moab Easter Jeep Safari event to unveil the Wrangler Magneto, a 100% electric concept car.
Each year the Moab Easter Jeep Safari brings together enthusiasts of the American brand and outdoor recreation. This 2021 edition, which will be held from March 27 to April 4 in Utah, United States, will be an opportunity for Jeep to present its range of performance accessories, but also new models, including a All-electric Wrangler concept car called Magneto.
Based on a two-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, the Wrangler Magneto is distinguished by a white “Bright White” and blue “Surf Blue” livery, a matching rear roll bar, wide 35-inch wheels, as well as a interior marrying black with blue “Custom Royal Blu”, and equipped with specific mats signed Mopar.
Jeep Magneto (2021): an electric Wrangler with manual gearbox
It is also equipped with a electric motor, and its specificity is that it is associated with a six-speed manual transmission, with a clutch system similar to that of a combustion engine. Jeep compares this electric motor to the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6: it offers a maximum power of 285 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, with engine management mimicking the V6 driving experience, with the difference that it operates in the greatest of silence.
This motor is powered by four lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 70 kWh, with a voltage of 800 volts, positioned all around the vehicle to optimize weight distribution. The announced performances are rather interesting, since this Wrangler Magneto is able to perform the 0 to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds.
If Jeep has not officially confirmed its production, according to the latest rumors, a Electric Jeep Wrangler should be marketed in the near future, in order to complete the electrified offer of Jeep which already has a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid.
