Like Renault, Volkswagen is preparing to enter the SUV Coupé niche. Can the Nivus worry the last Renault Arkana?
Renault has just launched the Arkana on the market, a compact SUV with a much less conventional style than that of the Captur and Kadjar. The latter indeed plays the “coupes” like a BMW X4 or an Audi Q3 Sportback. Based on a Captur platform stretched out to the max, it aims for nothing less than references like the Peugeot 3008 thanks to its style, its well-designed interior, its comfort and its attractive pricing.
Volkswagen is also preparing to embrace this category of “coupe” SUVs with a European version of the Nivus, a model already launched last year on the South American market. Like the Arkana, he displays an elusive profile. But it will be a more compact model than the Renault, closer to the T-Cross than the Tiguan. It is expected with us for the end of 2021.
Other models on the program
We imagine that it will slip into the range of Volkswagen, between the T-Cross and the T-Roc. And that the German manufacturer could launch other “coupe”-style models in the future. Including within the electric range ID, with in particular a model based on the recent ID. 4.
