A Ferrari F40 at the price of a Renault Clio, anyone?
The F40 is one of the most sought-after Ferraris in the classic car market. Like the F50 or the Enzo, its value is currently increasing dramatically. A few years ago, it was possible to find one for less than a million euros. But now, the rating of this F40 is dangerously close to two million euros for the least mileage copies.
So when the American dealer Worldwide Vintage Autos sells a Ferrari F40 for only $ 24,900, there’s bound to be something wrong. And for good reason, it is obviously a replica designed on the basis of a Pontiac Fiero, a model often used for this type of achievement.
In this specific case, it is still necessary to recognize a certain talent in the forger. Of course, no specialist will be fooled. But the seriousness of the realization, despite adjustment problems especially at the level of the wheels, could almost justify the sale price.
