BMW announces the presentation of a first electrified M model in 2021. It could be an X8 M rechargeable hybrid strong of about 750 hp!
Some will cry sacrilege while others will see it as an inevitable development of the automotive sector, especially with the entry into force of ever stricter emissions standards: in 2021, BMW will unveil an electrified M model for the first time in its history.
The firm officially announced it by revealing the sales figures of its sports department for the year 2020 (144,218 units sold worldwide, new record).
An X8 M plug-in hybrid?
If the propeller brand has not yet specified the exact nature of the engine that will drive this machine, the first information from the site Bmw blog however, report a plug-in hybrid powertrain that will be installed in the future … X8 M.
This PHEV version of the German behemoth would combine a twin-turbo 4.4L V8 with two electric motors positioned on each axle for a total power of 750-760hp, which would make the SUV the most powerful road model M in history. No more no less. We can not wait to see it…
