In the years to come, Alpine will continue its forward march by working in particular in collaboration with Lotus on a 100% electric sports car.
And it will not be just any of the cars, since this collaboration should give birth to a 100% electric replacement for the famous Alpine A110. Rather discreet in recent months, the French brand is therefore back on the front of the stage. This association will allow Alpine and Lotus to lead “A full feasibility study for the joint engineering, design and development of such a model drawing on the resources, expertise and facilities of the respective entities in France and the United Kingdom”.
Unfortunately, one cannot help but think that despite the combined talent of the two manufacturers, this future electric replacement for the A110 will necessarily be much heavier … Too bad because it was the strength of Alpine and Lotus.
As a reminder, Lotus recently embarked on an atypical project for the British brand, the development of a 100% electric hypercar, the Evija. Based on a carbon fiber monocoque, the latter is equipped with four electric motors giving it a power of 2000 hp for 1700 Nm of torque.
Other models to follow
For its part, Alpine has not yet started its energy transformation, but to believe the various announcements made by Luca De Meo (To read), the electrification of the French brand is underway. Thus, in addition to this 100% electric “A110”, Alpine will also be working on a compact in the B segment (a Renault Clio Alpine?) And a crossover in the C segment.
