To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Golf GTI first launched in 1976, Volkswagen is expected to release a special version called “Edition 45”. Our colleagues from the Spanish site Cochespias reveal some exclusive photos.
It’s been 45 years since the Golf GTI hit the road. And the sporty compact sedan from Volkswagen would not stop impressing us with a special anniversary version called “Edition 45”.
The Spanish site Cochespias has also obtained photos of the future event model.
This GTI Edition 45 will be based on the 8th and latest generation of the Golf, which does not prevent it from standing out thanks to black alloy rims surrounded by a red border. To keep the anniversary aspect in mind, Volkswagen has equipped its Golf GTI with stickers on the side sills with the mention “45”. In the cabin, there may well be sports seats with presumably a numbered badge and the usual Scottish motif of the GTI models.
This special version is intended to be much more aggressive and this is particularly evident in its look with its headlights. Under the hood also the Golf will make you vibrate. This Edition 45 should use a 2.0-liter TSI engine delivering 245 hp for a 0 to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds.
It is also possible that we find the engine of the Golf GTI Clubsport animated by an engine of 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque, being able to achieve a 0 to 100 km / h in less than 6 seconds.
No information has yet been confirmed. However Volkswagen could make an official announcement in the coming weeks.
