A Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray is wrecked after falling from a lift into a garage. Too bad, she comes out of the garage more damaged than she entered!
As the new generation Corvette is rear mid-engined, its weight distribution is very different from that of the C7. In fact, while the C7 had a 50/50 weight distribution, the C8 model had a 40/60 distribution. This means that the new generation must be raised differently than its predecessor. Obviously, the mechanic in this workshop did not receive the memo. Two images recently shared on ” Corvette Forum ” show the “Rapid Blue Corvette” resting on its rear bumper after sliding off the lift.
In all likelihood, the mechanic did not use the correct lifting points at the rear of the vehicle which, as underlined ” Corvette Blogger », Are placed much further back than on the C7. The force of the fall caused a major crack in the sports car’s body and although this is not visible in these photos, there is a very good chance that the chassis was also damaged.
Wreck out of garage?
If this is the case, the car will be immediately declared as a wreck and will likely go to a scrapyard where it can be sold for parts. This would be a shame for a car which is not more than a year old since the deliveries are all very recent.
This is not the first time that a Corvette C8 has slipped off a lift. In June 2020, a very similar incident occurred when a Chevrolet dealership in Jacksonville, Florida improperly lifted a red C8 Stingray. This one had also been declared as wreck. It is the height for a car to come out of a little trip to the garage.
