After Ford, it is Volvo’s turn to express its wish to become 100% electric by 2030. The news was announced in a press release from the manufacturer.

No more combustion engines and hybrid vehicles, Volvo will become 100% electric in 2030. The project was announced by the manufacturer in a short communicated : ” this transition is part of the brand’s ambitious climate plan, which aims to reduce the carbon footprint of the life cycle of each car through concrete actions … “.

For the moment Volvo only has a 100% electric vehicle, the XC40 Recharge, also available in thermal and plug-in hybrid version. But soon he won’t be the only one, this year the manufacturer will launch its first vehicle designed exclusively in electric, which will join the 40 range.

Volvo Cars aims to accelerate its electrification strategy for 2030, in response to strong demand for electrified models in recent years. The automaker is also convinced that the heat engine market is in decline.

50% of electric vehicles in 2025

In 4 years half of Volvo’s should be 100% electric, hybrids will represent the remaining 50%.

Another novelty, in the long term, it will be possible to buy an electric car directly via an online sales portal. The manufacturer wants to reduce the number of steps before a vehicle is sold and thus facilitate the purchase. It will therefore be possible to choose from several vehicles, and once the sale has been made, all you have to do is wait quietly on your sofa for the delivery of your Volvo.
